Yeah, speaking of Russian literature try "Master and Margherita" by Mikhail Bulghakov. The devil, a naked witch, and giant talking cat with a fondness for vodka show up in Cold War Moscow. Hilarity ensues as no one believes in God or the devil anymore. Although whoever they encounter tends to end up in the insane asylum.

A (kind of like signing your name "E")

Good ones I've read lately:

Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl (I see it's on your list, READ IT! :) )
Stiff by Mary Roach
The Book of Lost Things by John Connelly

Thanks for the tips ladies and ladies.

Jess, I actually tried with “Calamity” I really did and I'm not gonna lie, I had a hard time getting into it and only read the first few chapters. I think I just am a little moody about any story from the precocious-special-genius kid. Part of me thinks it’s a cliché and another part of me suspects it is just too easy for the writer to delve into a weird kid’s voice since we give a lot of leeway to the quirky geniuses in literature. I didn’t even mention David Mitchells newest Black Swan Green, which, of course, is a coming of age of a precocious super bright boy during the Reagan/Thatcher years. His quirk is a speech impediment and its interest, but I don’t know, maybe I just need something that feels less contrived like a traditional boring old hero, or maybe I need a true anti-hero ala Quoyle from The Shipping News. Then again I almost threw that book against a wall three times before I finally gave it a second and third chance and discovered that I love it.
Maybe I will try again with “Calamaty” when I’m in a different mood. HA. Maybe I just need to reread Blue Bear.

Hey don’t we need to do a lunch or something soon? Specially with the weather improving?
